Alas, Michael Wolkind KC, renowned as one of the very best UK criminal defence barristers, passed away in 2025 from a rare degenerative and untreatable condition – truly missed by loved ones and his many friends alike.

Catherine has recently successfully represented clients’ accused of rape and serious sex offences, as well as serious drugs and violence charges.
Additionally, Catherine is regularly instructed to advise on appeal against conviction and sentence, from both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court.
She has appeared in the Court of Appeal where she most recently successfully argued an appeal against sentence [R v Tilley & Tilley [2023] EWCA Crim 4]. This involved a 15-year-old who received a 9-year sentence of imprisonment, with three years extended for public protection, after being convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 9 year sentence was reduced to 6 years on appeal.
